X WEEK

11 - 15 Nov

On Monday we continued a piece we started in Catia the previous week and Julen give us a exercise book with pieces to do in Catia but with higher level of complexity. At eleven o'clock we did an 10 minutes exam in test format about stamping process, types of press and die. We had to learn from three documents attached in moodle the process of obtaining a proiect, the manufacture of the die and the piece stamping.

Today we have started by holding a meeting among the four participants of the group to assign each member a different role to function better when it comes to doing the task. In our case, Ibon, has taken charge of making the standardized elements and parameterizing them, Eñaut, has taken charge of doing the assembly with the parts that Ibon was doing, Xabi, has taken charge of doing the transverse task, buying if everything was OK and Borja had to do the press in CATIA.

On Wednesday we started classes with Julen, with him we made a piece in CATIA to practice a tool to make spirals, then let us continue advancing in the challenge, or finish the pieces of the book he gave us. with Nagore we continued giving theory on the SPC and the study of capacity, in the second hour we did some exercises that we corrected later on the board, and with iranzu we continued creating the company.



On Thursday the first two hours we had with Julen but he letted us to continue with the project. After the break we ended a work that we had to do for tomorrow in Iranzu class. The rest of the hours we continued parameterizing some pieces to assembly. The next day on Friday, we started the day with Iranzu, and the first minutes of the class we sent them the work that the end yesterday, so the hours rest of the hours we were checking all the work that we did with the die.

IX WEEK

4 - 8 Nov

We started the week doing exercises of parametrization on Catia, we continues the day doing more normalized components for our die project. For english class we had to do our CV and a presentation letter for Hetel, asking for our training practices aboard. Explaining what we think this experience can contribute to our lives, what country do we want to go and what type of company. Also we were asked to think about the difficulties we could have living aboard far from our house. Today we had to finish the standard elements that we had to deliver to Gaizka today. The elements that we had to deliver today are; columns, pisador cap and top plate cap. To make these elements, we have divided the work among the four people who form the group and thus we will have an order and work better. Around 12 o'clock in the morning Gaizka is going to carry out a control of what we have done until and he will evaluate it according to his criteria.

At wednesday we started classes with julen, taught us to use two CATIA tools, with those tools you can make complicated figures such as rings or springs, then gave us an exercise to practice with the tools, then with Nagore learned the theory of SPC, and capacity studies, during the first 45 minutes, then gave us some exercises and tables to practice, and at the last minute with iranzu sequimos creating the company and retouch the market study.

On thursday as Julen didnt come to the first two hours we continued with Gaizka about calculation of strength to know the gravity center. The third hour, whereas other groups were finishing the brainstorming, and like we finished the day before we were doing more pieces for the challenge. Finally, the last two hours we were using the tree-dimensional, to check and to verify the dimensions of the piece that the other class did it. After verifying that the piece was well done we deliver it to them saying that they done a great job.

VIII WEEK

28 Oct - 1 Nov

We started the week learning how to do parameterization of different operations in Catia. After parameterization we learn how to do a design table starting from an Excel sheet. We think that this is a very useful tool for designers, because this allows to the designer to have the same piece with different measures and characteristics in only one Catia archive. In the image below you can see the piece and the different references of the piece which have different values for each parameter.

On the second day of this week we begin with an explanation of how we have to explain to middle grade students how the die works. Each member of the group had to take notes from Gaizka's explanation so that it would be easier to explain. Once given the explanation each member of the group has a task assigned, and once finished will perform a new task. To finish the day we had to make a production AMFE to deliver Wednesday with Nagore. For AMFE we will meet the four members of the group and we will do it together.

On Wednesday we began the first two hours with julen, gave us a plane in A3, and told us to do it in catia, and put some parameters, for it we had to create a table in the excel to put the data.With Nagore we made the production AMFE, then we printed it, and we had a meeting with the second grade students to agree on the manufacturing process, and the factors to take into account when making the program to machine the part. At the last hour we had class with Iranzu, where we continue creating our company.

On thursday at 8:00 we had class with Julen, but we didnt do anything because at 9:00 we had to take a bus to go to Vitoria to Mercedes. Maristak talked to Mecedes saying if we can go to visit them to see how they work, and to learn some tricks about how to work in a hard situation. At the end they left us to take a picture with one the new car they had made, and after that we finished the trip.

VII WEEK

21-26 Oct The seventh week, we started with a Catia exam. The exam was based on doing a part with mechanical design coping from a plane teacher gave us. It can say that the part we had to draw it had one first part easier than the other, the base of the piece was quite easy, but the piece gets difficult when we were drawing the second part that were like two straight ears that came out from a cylinder. The second part of the exam was to improve the template we had done in class by inserting a box for the plane number.

On Tuesday we continued increasing the tree in CATIA with Gaizka, we started to create new reference planes. From 9:00 a. m. to 10:00 a. m. we had a talk about blood, and we were proposed to go on Wednesday to draw blood. Then we had a meeting with Gaizka to see the progress we have made on the project and Gaizka has come to the good conclusion of our project and has proposed some things to improve the project.

On Wednesday, first thing in the morning we had class with Julen, we did the review of the piece that put us in the CATIA examination, then taught us to make gears, then taught us to add parameters to the piece to edit the measurements.

Then with Nagore we did the AMFE of the strip design in groups , and finally with Iranzu, we continued doing the market study, the brain storming and showed us the market study carried out by the students of machining intermediate degree.

On thursday we started with Julen doing Catia, and as always we started doing a piece to practice for the challenge. Today we learnt something new in Catia that I think that it would help us a lot in the future. With Iranzu we continued doing the market study and we finish the work because we have to deliver tomorrow at 3pm. 

Then after the break we continued doing the desing tree, because we had to put where the columns and the bushes are located in the tree then to make the die, because if we fail that it can be that the die doesnt work.
