Our course

The name of the course is Design for mechanical fabrication. It’s a superior grade formation course and together with machining fabrication is formation in demand here in the Basque Country. The course is taught in Maristas of Durango, Street Juan Antonio Abasolo number 6 Longitude and Latitude 43,171218, -2,634736. Our classroom is in the ground floor of the school.

To follow the course there are not many requirements, if you come to class every the and pay attention in class is enough. Sometimes it’s necessary to study for exams but does aren't too much  complicated. In this course we are going to use, several programs to create pieces in 3d, to design planes, also we use a program, cosmos, to handle the three-dimensional measuring machine, with which we will measure the pieces of the die that we have to manufacture. In our course we apply the mythology ETHAZI.  In Maristak we work through challenges that have a determinate duration and are evaluated with rubrics , this methodology is based in teamwork.

We are going to be evaluated by “challenges”, exercices, our behaviour in the class… but each part has their characteristics to be evaluated, for example: in exercices they see if it is well done, if you deliver at time… etc. We are going to do 3 challenges, we already start with the first one, the second we will start in december and the last one around january and february. Apart of that we started doing Catia, because we will need to do pieces to our challenges. With Iranzu we are learning to create a company, and in English doing a blog, reading and listenings to improve our knowledge. We are going to use, several programs to create pieces in 3d, to design planes, also we use a program, cosmos, to handle the three-dimensional measuring machine, with which we will measure the pieces of the die that we have to manufacture.

To face this course we need to know basic calculations of resistance of materials, centers of gravity and other basic calculations to make the process of the die, we also need to manage in CATIA, and handle the basic program of the tridimensional measuring machine. The last year we learned doing blueprints in AutoCAD and SolidWorks, this year we are going to learn Catia and how it works the tridimensional machine and how to create a new one.

To achieve this course you need to be willing to learn and be attentive in class. And most importantly, that the attitude shown in class that is good and that one attends class 

The final product of the course is the result of all the different challenges during the course. The idea is to design,  each group, a stamping die to obtain a certain piece  from a  metallic iron sheet. Then after doing the design, teachers would choose the most profitable die and it will star the fabrication process.
